Summer and cruelty-free skin products

Summer is fast approaching, and all of us in the Houston area know that means plenty of heat and humidity are in store. Since the heat sets in a little earlier than other states, I wanted to do a post about skin and makeup products that are summer friendly, natural and cruelty-free.

I was first introduced to eczemahoneyco during a brutal bout with guttate psoriasis, and I was astonished by how well the product worked. Although it comes in a small container, it will last you for a while since you don’t need much of the product for each application. The formula is tacky, but it nourishes and moisturizes your skin and smells fantastic as well. The scent reminds me of fresh sunflower, which in retrospect makes sense, since one of the base ingredients is sunflower oil. Another thing I love about this product is that it’s organic, handmade and non-toxic. If you have eczema, guttate or plaque psoriasis, or just a general case of dry skin, I highly recommend this product for you.

First, let’s start with skin care products. For some reason, I tend to get dry scalp and skin in the summer. I also get eczema on my palms, and although I have tried a variety of remedies none of them worked well, until I tried eczemahoneyco soothing healing cream.

I also recently discovered their scalp oil, and I couldn’t be happier. I always get dry scalp this time of year, and it drives me nuts when it happens, it’s so embarrassing! Worst I do it every minute in front of my friends, or in public. Who wants to go through that right? Scalp oil from eczemahoneyco helps me a lot.  It contains Aloe Vera Juice which it boosts hydration to our skin. Blend of olive oil, Jojoba oil which provides moisturizing and deep cleansing and nourishes your dry skin. It has Vitamin E oil and colloidal oatmeal, and honey for antibacterial.
Also, it has natural essential oils blend of tea tree oil it’s natural anti-fungal and Lavender oil for anti-inflammatory and calming.

TSYI Naturals is a local business in Houston, TX. She established her skin care business ten years ago, but I only recently found her at a local farmer’s market event. I have been using her products for a few weeks now and I must say it made my skin look healthier and younger. Her products are organic, handmade and cruelty-free.

That being said, I want to share with you guys my skin routine before I put my makeup on or before bed. What I do first is wash my face or exfoliate with MUDD Clay Cleanser at least for 1-2mins in a circular motion (I only exfoliate 2x a week), rinse with tepid water. Then, pat my face with a clean towel to dry. Do not drag the towel on your face because it can cause wrinkles. Funny as it may sound, it’s true! Then I put the SOS Hyraluric Acid serum (my favorite!), I let it set for two minutes before I moisturize my face with Nourish Face Oil and spray some of her Rose Petal HydraMist. By the way, when I plan to wear my makeup I skip the Nourish Face Oil, especially my t-zone area.

Building skincare habits like this are particularly important in parts of the world that get excessive amounts of sun.

As dry skin can get even drier in the summer. Chlorine and heat can dry out your skin in the summer heat as you spend more time outside like in the beach, poolside or doing outdoor activities. Your skin becomes more dehydrated as the temperature rises that’s why it’s very important to hydrates your skin with the right product like TSYI Naturals and of course always drink plenty of water!

Physician Formula- Foundation I already featured it on one of my blog posts ( click here ), you can check it here (Link) I won’t get tired of recommending it, especially when I know the product is really good. I also like wearing it in the summer, especially when I’m extra tan, plus it has SPF 20.

Physician Formula Butter Bronzer-  If you don’t have it yet, you better get one now! This product is a game changer! You guys, It’s amazing!! It’s super affordable, but the formula is way better than other high-end products. Also, It has a choco-coconut smell, in other words, it smells yummy, haha, It’s also hypo-allergenic, and cruelty-free.

Tarte Shape Tape one of the best concealer I ever used and owned. Trust me, I’ve tried countless concealers, but my ultimate favorite is Tarte Shape Tape and it’s good for all season.  The formula is thick, but It doesn’t crease or leave you a powdery finish and its good for all skin types. You can also use it to conceal your redness or dark spots, or even use it as a foundation if you are in a rush, or if happened you forgot to bring your foundation. I’ve used it when I was in the Philippines, even in that 109F degree heat my under-eye are still flawless throughout the day even though I was sweating like crazy.

Now, let’s talk about the Supergoop Setting Spray  Summer is just around the corner, and it’s important that we protect our skin from the heat. I noticed I started getting black spots on my face, maybe because I don’t use sunblock enough.  Although most of my foundation contains SPF, that doesn’t seem enough to protect my skin. Since I can’t put sunscreen underneath my makeup, I began to research if there’s a setting spray that contains sunscreen that doesn’t ruin your makeup or end up so oily.  I know I need a setting spray that will also protect my skin. I remembered I got a sample of supergoop setting spray with 50% spectrum for creating and cultivate swag bag. I want to test it out before committing of buying a full-size product. Well, guess what?! It’s amazing! It doesn’t leave me greasy face, it set my makeup plus it protects my skin, and they don’t test on animals! 100% cruelty-free. I highly recommend it.!
